I was diagnosed with a double hernia. In Cigna's worthless "network" all I got was a constant runaround, and NO surgeons available for my surgery WITH INSURANCE !!!!! Dr Harkins took me when nobody else would and diagramed my entire surgery with me on my consultation...very professional....I have my surgery Monday. I would never blame a doctor for symptoms after a procedure unless it was their fault, but just to say I feel comfortable 4 days before my surgery.
Edit to say I am home from my surgery and am so impressed with the professionalism of the entire process, and it was done in a timely fashion as it was just last week that I went to his office, a week later and I am fixed. Of course I have some after affects but they are minimal so far...I highly recommend Dr. Harkins.
Dr. Harkins saved my life in every sense of the word. I had a previous surgery by another doctor that nicked me in 3 locations. I was septic for 6 weeks before I realized I was near-death septic (with chronic illness you really don't know what is normal). I was carpooling my kids and running around town with an incision from by ribs to below my belly button getting packed 2x a day by Home Health). When I returned to initial "guru" dr in the Houston medical center he was less than helpful. My home health nurse sent me to Tomball Regional and Dr. Harkins had me on the table the next day. After 5 surgeries to locate and repair the damage from the previous doctor and an additional 3 surgeries after my 6 week hospital stay, I can say that I am healed and I know that any other doctor would have given up on me. I was one sick girl. Dr. Harkins pulled strings to get me in what I affectionately called the "George and Laura" suite so my 3 boys and family could come spend time with me comfortably, and to the surprise of all the hospital staff, he personally walked me to my car the day I got to leave the hospital. July 17 2015. I won't forget that date! Dr Harkins is truly the only doctor I would trust with my care, excellent staff and they truly knew my name and cared about me and my family enduring it all with me.
Dr. Harkins is very professional and one of the best trained surgeons out there. He actually teaches courses using the robotics technology to other surgeons. He was very thorough and explained what he had to do and all the while maintaining positive professional attitude.
